Supporting Foreign & Commonwealth (F&C) soldiers to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) status
Ex-F&C soldier, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Kenneth Bannister, served as a Trooper and Lance Corporal with the 9th/12th Royal Lancers (now Royal Lancers) before passing officer selection and gaining a commission at Sandhurst. Returning to the Regiment as a Troop Leader, he enjoyed a long and varied career, including in HR as SO1 RAC Manning and culminating as an instructor at the Joint Services Command and Staff College.
Upon leaving the Army in late-2019, he normalised his UK immigration status by transitioning from his Section 8(4) Immigration Act 1971 visa (issued to all F&C soldiers) to Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), thereby allowing him to settle, live and work in the UK. Today, he is the Director and Head Coach at Continual Edge Limited.
Befitting the company’s Armed Forces Covenant pledge and Military-Grade Coaching® ethos, Continual Edge has partnered with HQ RAC to offer pro bono coaching to any RAC F&C soldier seeking to gain ILR and settle in the UK at the conclusion of their service. As such, the company will work with the client to define their post-service UK immigration goals, agree a bespoke immigration transition plan, execute the plan against agreed timelines - all with ongoing support, thereby setting up the client for success upon leaving the Army.
This initiative offers RAC Foreign & Commonwealth (F&C) soldiers free coaching in their pursuit of Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) should they wish to settle and work in the UK following their military service. As the F&C Soldier ILR Coach, Lieutenant Colonel (Retd) Bannister has first-hand experience of the immigration path ahead having been through the ILR process himself. The role for a Defect Manager to focus on managing the defects produced from both Infrastructure and Application testing through to Resolution. The Defect Manager is the point of contact for all Defect status related queries and owner of the Defect Process. This is a fantastic opportunity for a senior engineer to play a central role in a massive cloud transformation program. Working within a major global operation across the food manufacturing and retail sectors, you will be the key technical expert responsible for moving thousands of virtual machines from older, on-premises systems over to Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. The scale of this project is immense, as the infrastructure you migrate directly supports complex supply chains, and busy retail websites. Your main goal will be to keep the business running smoothly, moving large workloads safely so that these vital everyday operations and sales networks experience no disruption.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the migration of thousands of virtual machines from on-premises environments to Oracle Cloud VMware Solution.
* Ensure minimal downtime across manufacturing, retail, online, logistics, marketing, finance and supply chain applications during migrations.
* Manage VM re-IPing and network reconfiguration at the target destination where necessary to ensure smooth routing.
* Design and configure hybrid cloud environments using advanced VMware HCX tools for seamless live workloads.
* Manage cloud infrastructure components including software-defined storage with VMware vSAN and networking with NSX-T.
* Take ownership of OCVS administration to maintain the full control and flexibility of a traditional on-premises setup.
* Collaborate with business teams to align cloud infrastructure with manufacturing schedules and retail trading cycles.
* Troubleshoot complex issues across critical supply chain logistics networks and online high-volume transaction systems.
* Automate routine tasks to modernise the traditional IT landscape across marketing platforms and corporate systems.
* Provide technical guidance to cross-functional stakeholders throughout the entire lifecycle of the transformation program.
Key Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience migrating thousands of virtual machines from on-premises environments to public cloud platforms.
* Deep technical expertise in Oracle Cloud VMware Solution (OCVS) or equivalent cloud-based VMware platforms.
* Hands-on proficiency with VMware HCX, including advanced features like live vMotion and bulk migrations.
* Strong understanding of networking infrastructure, specifically network virtualization with VMware NSX-T and OCI FastConnect.
* Expertise in managing IP address reconfigurations (re-IPing) and routing adjustments during large-scale migrations.
* Experience administering VMware enterprise components, including vSphere, vCenter, and software-defined storage with vSAN.
* Background supporting critical business systems across manufacturing, supply chain, logistics, and online retail sectors.
* Ability to plan migrations around business cycles, such as 24/7 factory operations and high-volume retail trading peaks.
* Proficiency in automation and scripting to streamline migration tasks and modernise infrastructure deployment.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills to communicate technical risks and updates clearly to cross-functional business teams.

Your ability to balance security requirements with operational and project delivery needs will be critical to success in this role.
Dstl is seeking an experienced Built Asset Security Adviser to provide expert security engineering and protective security advice across a portfolio of high-security facilities and infrastructure projects. This role will support the design, development, review, and assurance of secure environments, including Containment Level 3 and 4 laboratories and other sensitive government facilities.
The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure security requirements are embedded throughout the project lifecycle, helping to safeguard critical national assets and maintain compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and industry best practice.
SC Clearance is an essential requirement for this role, as a minimum you must be willing & eligible to undergo checks. Please note, due to the exceptional requirements of this position (short-term nature of this role and speed at which we require a postholder in situ) preference may be given to candidates who meet all of the essential criteria and hold active security clearance.
As a Built Asset Security Advisor, your main responsibilities will be:
* Provide specialist security engineering advice for the design, development, and review of secure facilities, particularly high-containment laboratories and sensitive government buildings.
* Review site perimeter security arrangements, including Hostile Vehicle Mitigation measures, and develop recommendations for security enhancements.
* Lead and support security risk assessments, threat analyses, and vulnerability studies for high-risk environments.
* Develop, review, and assure security design documentation, including protective security strategies, technical specifications, and assurance reports.
* Collaborate with architects, engineers, programme teams, and security stakeholders to integrate security measures into complex infrastructure projects.
* Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and security frameworks throughout project delivery.
* Advise on digital engineering security requirements, including BIM-related security controls and secure information management.
* Support design reviews, governance activities, construction assurance, commissioning, and operational readiness reviews.
* Provide senior-level advice on emergency planning, secure operations, and high-threat scenario preparedness.
Essential Skills
* Significant experience as a Security Engineer, Security Specialist, or Security Adviser within the built construction environment.
* Experience supporting highly secure, regulated, or high-containment facilities.
* Strong understanding of physical, technical, and operational security design principles.
* Experience conducting risk assessments, threat analyses, and security assurance activities.
* Demonstrable knowledge of:
* Schedule 5 of the Anti-Terrorism, Crime and Security Act 2001
* ISO 19650-5:2020 (Security-minded approach to BIM)
* ISO 23234:2021 (Security for BIM and built assets)
* Knowledge of the NPSA Surreptitious Threat Mitigation Process and its practical application.
* Ability to communicate complex security requirements to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions in high-consequence environments.
Desirable Skills
* Hostile Vehicle Mitigation (HVM) experience.
* Experience working within secure or classified environments.
* Working towards, or already holding, Chartered Security Professional status.
* Registered Security Consultant/Specialist credentials (e.g. RSCS) preferred.
* Security engineering specialist background rather than a generalist security profile.
