Rheinmetall BAE Systems Land - Challenger 3

RBSL are currently working on the Challenger 3 MBT project, we are recruiting and we are actively seeking ex Challenger 2 crewmen.


Trials Engineers x5 needed to join the trials team supporting the planning, test and qualification of this new Challenger III Battle Tank for the UK MOD. You will play a key role in planning, conducting, and ensuring the safe completion of vehicle integration, safety, reliability and system proving trials. The work will include preparing documents such as detailed trials specifications, risk assessments and trial reports as well as specifying and operating appropriate instrumentation. The role is based from Telford although it is expected significant amounts of travel to various locations around the UK and abroad including both civilian and military test sites will be necessary.

AT THE COAL FACE / TASKS / RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Working with engineering domains to develop and define trial requirements.
  • Providing trials subject matter expertise to support domain engineers in requirement verification plans.
  • Supporting the development of the trials programmes plans in DOORS and MS Project.
  • Creation of Detailed Test Plans based on trials requirements. Reporting on trials results in Trials Reports.
  • Supporting the generation of wider Trials Management Plans: including Health & Safety and Security
  • Engaging with test facilities to ensure trial requirements are achievable, developing technical scopes of work and working closely with procurement in order contract required facilities.
  • Working closely with engineers to develop and support instrumentation plans and data acquisition systems.
  • Support accurate recording of trials incidents using the Data Recording and Corrective Action System, including generating incident reports and providing support to incident sentencing committees.
  • Ensuring the safety of the trials in accordance with the RBSL Health & Safety Policy.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including; internal, Army, MOD and suppliers.
  • Working as part of a deployed team or as an individual to safely deliver accurate, repeatable test / trial activities.
  • Maintaining relationships with key stakeholders including internal, MOD and suppliers.
  • Conducting and / or reviewing analysis of results.
  • Working to resolve incidents and failures occurring before, during and after trials.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS

  • Skilled in writing technical reports, for example test specifications, test plans or trial reports.
  • An understanding of UK Legislation and standards associated with vehicle testing
  • Must hold a Full Clean UK Drivers Licence. It is desirable that Category H (Tracked Vehicle) and Category C (heavy wheeled vehicles) entitlements are held.
  • Proficient user of MS Office is essential

DESIRABLES

  • Skilled in in verification & validation activities within the Military Land Equipment.
  • Familiar with the specification, installation and running of data acquisition equipment and an understanding of instrumentation principles.
  • Understanding of Armoured Vehicle design and operation.
  • An understanding in the operation of ranges and conduct of live fires.
  • Familiarity with the following software packages: NI Diadem, HBM CATMAN, Racelogic VBox, desirable but not essential.
