Based in Newton Aycliffe County Durham they are opening the Academy in November. As part of the launch they offering 20 free courses, 10 in Welding and 10 in Plumbing starting the week commencing Mon 13 November. Accommodation and transport will be the responsibility of the individual.   

So, if you are looking to enter the Welding and Inspection industry, or Plumbing Heating and Mechanical Engineering industry but unsure what is required or if the job role is for you, then read below.

Welding

Our 3-day course has been developed to introduce you to the 3 main areas of the Welding and Inspection and auditing industry.

Each day will see you spend time within the classroom and workshop gaining theory and practical experience within each subject.

Day 1 – Introduction to Welding processes and welding technology and procedures

Day 2- Introduction to Non-Destructive Testing and Defect reporting and technique sheets

Day 3- Quality Standards and their application in welding (ISO 9001/ISO 3834)

Day 4- Examination

On successful completion of the course, you will be award with our Internal Welding Auditor certificate. This certification will show your competence with future employees and the knowledge you gain can be used to your further learning within the subject matter.

Following completion of the course you may decide to move into the following job roles:

• Welder / Welding operator
• Welding inspection / NDE operator
• Quality system auditor

Plumbing and Heating

Our 5-day course has been developed to introduce you to the 3 main areas of the plumbing & heating industry.

Each day will see you spend time within the classroom and workshop gaining theory and practical experience within each subject.

Day 1 – Introduction to mains water processes, technology, and procedures

Day 2- Introduction to plumbing

Day 3- Basic plumbing skills

Day 4- Examination

Day 5 - Examination

On successful completion of the course, you will be award with a nationally recognised basic plumbing qualification, and mains water technician qualification. This certification will show your competence with future employees and the knowledge you gain can be used to your further learning within the subject matter. With your newly acquired mains water qualification, you will be equipped to enter the world of work.
