The Cavalry Lunch Club (CLC) will meet for lunch in the Cavalry and Guards Club on Thursday 16th October 2025. Our guest speaker will be Lieutenant General N C L Perry DSO MBE.

Next Guest Speaker - Lieutenant General N C L Perry DSO MBE

Nick Perry commissioned into the Army and The King’s Royal Hussars in 1996.

He spent the bulk of the next eight years at Regimental Duty, serving in the armoured and the reconnaissance roles. Having trained in Germany, Canada, Singapore, Poland and the US, he deployed on Operations to Bosnia in 1997 and Kosovo in 1999 where he was the Close Reconnaissance Troop leader for the initial KFOR operation. Following 9/11, he also deployed to Afghanistan and then Iraq where he served as a liaison officer to the US military.

In 2005, he gained an MBA(D) with Cranfield University before completing the Advance Command and Staff Course (ACSC). This was followed by a two-year tour back at Regimental Duty where he again deployed on operations to the Middle East and Afghanistan. In 2008, he moved to 16 Air Assault Brigade as the Chief of Staff. His time there culminated in another tour to Afghanistan as the Chief of Staff on Op HERRICK 13.

In 2011, he returned briefly to Shrivenham, as an Instructor on the ACSC staff before returning to Regimental Duty as the Commanding Officer.

He completed the Higher Command and Staff Course following a two-year appointment as Military Assistant and Private Secretary to the Prime Minister serving under David Cameron and Theresa May. In May 2017, on promotion he took command of the UK’s high readiness Air Manoeuvre formation, 16 Air Assault Brigade. A tour as Head of the Joint Plans Capability area within Finance and Military Capability in MOD Main Building then followed. On promotion to Major General in early 2021 he was appointed as the Assistant Chief of the General Staff at Army HQ before commanding the UK’s specialist military units.

He took up the appointment as Chief of Joint Operations in November 2024.

He is married with 4 children.
